7 DAYS - 3 VALLEY BHUTAN TRAVEL PACKAGE

This tour explores the wonderfully diverse environment of Bhutan’s western valleys as well as their cultural heritage. Visit the three historic valleys of Paro, Thimphu and Punakha.  Admire the ever-changing landscapes, and immerse yourself in Bhutan’s rich buddhist culture. Highlights include Ta Dzong Museum, Rimpong Dzong with its wooden cantilevered bridge and the infamous Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) in the beautiful Paro Valley. The National Memorial Chorten, 12th century Changangkha Temple and the National Library exhibiting ancient scriptures in Bhutan’s capital Thimphu, and after crossing the 3050m Dochula Pass with spectacular Himalayan views, a journey into the sub-tropical Punakha Valley featuring the incredible Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakang, temple of the Divine Madman.

DAY 01: ARRIVE PARO – THIMPHU

  • Sight seeing Paro

  • Drive to Thimphu (1 hr)

  • Stroll around Thimphu if time permits

  • Overnight at hotel in Thimphu 2400m

DAY 02: THIMPHU 

  • Morning, visit to Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Point)

  • Hike trail overlooking Thimphu valley

  • Changangkha Monastery (12C)

  • Folk Heritage Museum

  • School of Arts & Crafts

  • Textile Museum

  • Takin Preserve (Takin is Bhutan's national animal) 

  • Weekend market (Fri - Sun)

DAY 03: THIMPHU - PUNAKHA

  • Drive to Dochula Pass(3150m). Enjoy breathtaking views (weather permitting) over tea & snacks 

  • Drive on to Punakha

DAY 04:  PUNAKHA

  • Walk to Khamsum Yulley Namgay Chorten (great views of meandering Puna Tsang Chhu river)

  • Punakha dzong

  • Chhimi Lhakhang (temple of fertility dedicated to Drukpa Kuenley aka Divine Mad Man)

  • Bhutan's longest suspension footbridge across the raging Pho chhu (male river) 

  • Optional* - Rafting along the temple stretch of the Mo Chhu (female river)

Overnight at hotel in Punakha (1300m)

DAY 05:PUNAKHA - PARO

  • Drive back over Dochula pass (3150m)

  • Continue to Thimphu for a stretch of legs & souvenir shopping

  • Drive to Paro

DAY 06: PARO

  • Hike to historical Taktsang Monastery - Tiger's Nest (3200m)

  • Visit other places of interest in Paro valley

  • Stroll around Paro town

DAY 07: DEPART PARO

After breakfast, drive to the airport for flight to your onward destination.
